Serbia and Montenegro
  Name of the organization Project
Belgrade …OUT OF CIRCLE - group for support and advocacy of women and children with disabilities victims of violence From beauty to independence - The project aims at decreasing violence against disabled women by giving them opportunities to integrate better into society by starting an economic activity. Women will be trained in variety of skills from make-up to manicure with the further objective to be employed in beauty salons or by working independently from home. Media coverage is planned in order to raise awareness on this issue.
Nis Association of Disabled students Let's solve the problems of youth with disabilities together - In order to solve the problems faced by the youth with disabilities, the project aims at initiating a process of legislative change and of influencing policy makers. A cross-sectoral lobby group will be formed where discussion and problems will be shared. This will be a platform for action and campaigning.
Sabac Association of paraplegics of Macva district Our Voice - To raise level of social awareness by means of informative activities and production of radio programs directed to the entire local community in Macva District. Six persons with disabilities will be educated to use computers and "Sound Forge" - program for development of radio shows. Production of 12 Radio Shows is planned, where problems and solutions for persons with disabilities will bi discussed. These programmes will be offered to other radio stations in the region for free broadcasting.
Pljevlja NGO Parents of the children with disability “Sign of hope” Support to inclusion - The project aims at facilitating the inclusion of children with mental disabilities in the society. The project plans the organization of educative workshops, joint activities with children from regular pre-school, meetings with Council of Parents from 3 elementary schools in order to raise their awareness regarding mental disabilities, psychosocial workshops for parents of children with disabilities.
Belgrade Federation of paraplegic and quadriplegic people of Serbia Unified Voice - The project aims at unifying the claims of disabled people organisations to governmental institutions and decision makers in order to have a greater impact. Creation of an email list and finalising DPI Serbia website for spreading information. A 2 day conference took place in Belgrade gathering representatives of many DPOs and some important stakeholders. The project anticipated several tribunes of follow up on implementation of conclusions reached at the conference but due to organization's lack of capacity for implementing all the planned activities, the project was terminated earlier.

 

Macedonia

Gevgelija Citizens association for support of families with PWD “ LOTOS CE – PE” Step Ahead - The project aims to inform and introduce the persons with disability and general public with legislation, psychological, social and architectural barriers that are appearing as obstacles in everyday life of people with disability . The main activities of this project were: Organizing of six street events, preparing and distributing flyers, organizing tribunes in the primary and secondary schools on the topic: “ Disability “ and making a video clip for awareness raising.
Makedonska Kamenica, Delcevo, Vinica, Berovo, Pehcevo Association of persons with physical and mental handicap ZVEZDA Creating a NGO net- The project aims to create a network of disabled people organisations in Bregalnica region in order to improve: a mutual cooperation and communication among them; better information for people with disability and general public regarding the disability issue to enable better advocacy and lobbying activities for rights of people with disabilities.
Negotino Centre for helping persons with mental handicap Message (PORAKA) Negotino Strengthening the organization of people with disability through networking and connecting the organization of parents of people with disabilities through networking -The project aims to create a regional network of disabled people organisations, that will give opportunities to increase their capacity, develop a regular communication system, and through joint activities, to increase public awareness about needs of persons with disabilities.

 

Bosnia and Herzegovina
  Name of the organization Project
Tuzla Association of Citizens with Dystrophy from Tuzla's Canton Learn more about us: The aim of the project was to inform medical workers, families of PWDs, local authorities and general public in the Canton of Tuzla about Standard rules on the equalization of opportunities for PWDs and to encourage the participation of PWDs in planning and delivery of programs and services concerning themselves. In order to achieve that, seminar entitled: “Learn more about us” was organized with the aim of raising awareness and fighting prejudices about persons with muscular dystrophy in their communities. This activity was accompanied by public campaign, distribution of 500 brochures and press conference which contributed considerably to the visibility and success of the whole project.
Srebrenica Parents Association of children and youth with disabilities- “Leptir” Youth with special needs and gender: Educational workshops for youth with special needs organized by “Leptir” and concerning Gender and Gender equality Law introduced its participants to the meaning of words: gender, gender equality, gender integration as well as contents of Gender equality law. Two, 2-day workshops took place within this project in the municipality of Sekovici (15 participants) and in Srebrenica (17). This was an excellent opportunity for exchange of views, experience and further networking among PWDs in this area. The topics discussed in those 2 workshops were very well received but participants doubt that the principles of equality can become real in their communities any time soon and that much more work is needed in order to make a permanent and lasting change towards equality of gender in their society.
Sarajevo Union of Associations for Aid to Persons with Mental Disabilities of the Federation of BiH- “SUMERO” Campaign for Public Advocacy of the Rights of People With Mental Retardation “WHERE ARE MY RIGHTS?” will bring in focus the issues affecting the people with intellectual disabilities through public events and media coverage. Each month a different topic will be covered and the summary from round tables, lectures and public hearings will be send to all relevant addresses in ministries, schools, social care centres, which should contribute to raising the awareness of issues affecting the everyday life of persons with intellectual disability.

 

Albania
  Name of the organization Project
Tirana Albanian Para & Tetraplegic association Disability is human rights issue - IIn order to improve the existing status of people with disabilities in society, the project aims at empowering paraplegic and quadriplegic individuals to conduct advocacy campaign in order to influence local policy making process. The project plans a needs assessment in Tirana, a monitoring of central laws and administrative acts, an assessment of living conditions of paraplegic and quadriplegic individuals, a round table with representatives of civil society as well as of the central government, three trainings with 60 participants from organisations, local governments, and other stakeholders. 100 disabled persons will get continuous psychosocial and medical support.

Malisheva Handikos Perspective for mothers with special needs - The project aims at facilitating the integration of ten mothers with special needs into the working force. The project plans to increase their professional abilities and thereby their social and economic status by providing them with skills for work (sewing)and eventually employment.
